Linda’s Breast Reconstruction

Linda’s Breast Reconstruction

Name: Linda
City: Newark
Country: USA
Age: 47

I had a mastectomy and simultaneous implant based reconstruction last September. It has been a few months now and I feel much better and I am happy with my new breast. The skin was originally rather tight, but has relaxed now and feels very comfortable and natural to me. The surgeon did a follow up procedure to reconstruct the nipple and areola and although it does not match the other breast perfectly, it is very close. All in all, I am very happy with my choice to go with the silicone implant and I am glad that I did not have to live without my breast at all.

I thought about natural tissue reconstruction, but decided against it due to several reasons. I was a little nervous about having an implant in my breast, but now I feel it is fine and quite comfortable. I hope every woman who loses a breast can have the same positive experience that I had. Reconstruction after the loss of a breast is a wonderful gift and I am so thankful to my wonderful surgeon and all the staff at the hospital. – Linda
