Truly Beautiful

Boob Job

A boob job is a colloquial term for surgical breast augmentation using prosthetic implants. While the term is used light heartedly, the reality of surgical augmentation is no laughing matter. While often viewed as a purely physical bodily alteration, receiving breast implants is actually accomplished to sooth bothersome and significant internal motivating factors, which if left unfulfilled, can cause a host of problematic physical and psychological conditions.

Boob Job / Societal Implications

While cosmetic breast surgery is well recognized as a meaningful and even crucial therapy for certain patients with considerable negative body image issues, it is rarely understood as a legitimate medical treatment by popular culture. The media has both glamorized and stigmatized cosmetic surgery in general, and breast surgery specifically. Many people mistakenly view cosmetic surgery as a sign of conceit, self absorption, self centeredness and superficiality, while it is actually a noble pursuit of self improvement, much akin to exercise or a proper diet. Optimizing the body is known to be an inherent part of good general health. Humans are all advised to care for their bodies and do everything to make them look and feel healthy. Cosmetic surgery is simply an extension of this philosophy, yet it adds a more complex dimension to the equation… The needs of the emotional self.

Boob Job / Spiritual Implications

The emotional spirit is part of the trinity of humanity, along with the physical body and the logical mind. The spirit is what drives women to desire an improved bodily appearance and the spirit is the aspect of the self which will benefit the most from cosmetic surgery. The physical alterations might be the most obvious to an outside observer, but they pale in comparison to the sweeping changes made in the emotional psychological self.

Living inside a body which is not viewed as an accurate or worthy representation of the emotions and logic is troublesome to the ID. This lack of personal satisfaction leads to emotional anguish, as well as pent up and often repressed body image concerns. Some people are very prone to suffering wide ranging effects from this deeply felt emotional turmoil. Common psycho-emotional effects include conditions such as depression, anxiety disorder, poor social interactions and a general feeling of dissatisfaction with life. Some patients suffer a variety of psychogenic physical conditions due to their stagnant repressed emotional anger. These body image issues can be part of the causative process behind the epidemic of mind/body disorders plaguing modern mankind. The most common of these treatment resistant disorders includes varieties of back pain, fibromyalgia, GI ulcers, headaches, TMJ/TMD, carpal tunnel syndrome and many more…

Boob Job / A Fresh Perspective

Next time you hear the term boob job, you will hopefully give more thought as to the reasons why a woman might want to increase her breast size. Being comfortable in one’s own skin is a basic need of every individual and if a minor surgical procedure can facilitate that comfort, then it is a blessing! Remember to be compassionate for the body image issues endured by others and show understanding for people who suffer simply by living in the body they presently own.

Women who are considering a breast enlargement surgery should be introspective to locate their own internal motivating factors driving them towards invasive correction of their body image issues. Discovering and accepting the desire for change is perhaps the most difficult part of the entire surgical equation. If you can indeed come to terms with why you want to have surgery, then the actual procedure will be easy to endure.
