Early Breast Enlargement History
Some of the earliest attempts at increasing
breast
size were attempted by the ancient Chinese who were masters of herbology. Using organic extracts, a Chinese doctor would put together a custom formulated concoction which would often times be both effective and even beneficial to the health of the treated women. Herbal application was practiced in several other cultures around the world, but was never developed to the same degree as in China. Certain societies practice breast stretching as a means of achieving a longer,
pendulous breast
which is culturally desirable in some geographic areas. There are historical reports of other cultures who used animal toxins and known irritants to produce temporary inflammation in the breasts leading to increased fullness and projection.
Modern Breast Enlargement
The beginning of the modern age saw new techniques being used to increase breast size. Surgical applications were invented which used varying substances as an implant material to build breast fullness. The earliest of these materials were paraffin wax, ivory and glass balls, natural human fatty tissue, animal fat and cartilage, wool, rubber and rubber tree sap, polyethylene, sponges, silicone and various other chemical polymers. Some materials were surgically implanted in bulk into the breast, while others were injected throughout the breast tissue. Most of these experiments were disastrous and led to dire complications, illness or death. Complete loss of the breast was a common side effect of many of these early augmentation treatments. Breast augmentation finally developed into an exact and effective science in the 1960’s when the first
silicone breast implants
were utilized to perform enlargement procedures. Since this time, the modern
breast implant
has continued to evolve and has become one of the most popular of all prosthetic implants in the entire medical industry.
