Breast LiposuctionBreast liposuction can be a stand alone or add on procedure for reducing breast size by eliminating fatty tissue content. Breast reduction surgery and full mastopexy procedures are very invasive operations, requiring large incisions and leaving permanent scars. Liposuction on the breasts is a good option for some women requiring a reduction, but not wanting to endure open surgery or the associated after effects.
As an individual stand alone procedure, liposuction on the breast is good for reducing fatty mammary tissue. This will shrink the
size
and
fullness of the breasts,
but will not help to raise or firm tissue. Therefore, this procedure is indicated primarily for women with
large breasts
which are not
ptotic.
It is also a good procedure to revise a previous reduction or lift surgery in which some
breast fat
tissue has grown back due to weight gain or other factors. Liposuction might be an adequate temporary solution for girls suffering from severe

breast hypertrophy.
Liposuction can also be a permanent fix for minor asymmetry issues in adult women of all ages. Liposuction can also be added to some

to provide added effect without additional scarring. Liposuction can also be used to treat the physically debilitating effects of very large breasts without undergoing a full breast reduction procedure. Although the weight and bulk of the breasts will be reduced using liposuction, the cosmetic issues will not be addressed. Liposuction alone on large ptotic breasts is likely to produce an unaesthetic deflated appearance. However, for women who suffer with serious physical pain from large breasts, this might be a good temporary or even permanent solution. Cosmetic correction can always be undertaken at some point in the future to give the breasts a better shape and appearance.
Breast Liposuction TechniqueLiposuction on the breasts is similar to any other anatomical region. The surgeon uses the liposuction device to remove fat which weighs down the breast and adds to the general size and bulk. The process looks barbaric, but is not overly invasive. It usually does not leave significant or permanent scars. Liposuction is a specialized technique and is best performed by an experienced cosmetic surgeon. Although the procedure is not complicated, achieving perfect results is a direct result of artistic talent and medical competency. Make sure to consult a liposuction specialist if you are considering this procedure on your breasts or any other body part.Risks of Breast LiposuctionLiposuction is usually very safe when performed by an experienced and cautious doctor. The most common risk is poor operative results which may leave the breasts uneven, lumpy or dimpled. Additional risks include continued pain or bleeding, scarring, hematoma or infection. Rare complications include damage to glandular breast tissue or neurological fibers which can reduce or eliminate sensory perception in the breast and/or the ability to successfully breastfeed. Make sure to discuss these and other risks with your doctor prior to undergoing any surgical liposuction procedure.Recommendation on Breast LiposuctionRemember that liposuction is rarely a good stand alone option for lifting or reducing the breasts. It is excellent in some instances for a specifically indicated condition, a surgical revision or an add on procedure. Make sure you and your doctor are both on the same page when it comes to your expectations for liposuction on your breasts. Liposuction is great for evening out small variations in breast size and will usually be a permanent solution which will not leave significant scars. If you are suffering from large problematic breasts which are making your life difficult, a liposuction technique might be indicated to reduce size and heft. You will need a mastopexy or full reduction with lift in the future to fix the cosmetic aspects of your breasts, but at least most of the weight will be eliminated right away. This is a good option for women trying to save money or get in better physical shape in preparation for full breast surgery at a later date.
