Breast Reduction by Janice

My breast reduction surgery date was October 8, 2009. This is day 8 post op. I feel pretty good but need to be careful not to do too much. I am now able to shower myself daily but need help to dry my back. The tape on my skin covering the stitches and incisions is very secure. No change in the tape yet. Bruising is reduced considerably. Once I have my daily shower new dressings are applied. The dressings consist of gauze pads to cover incisions then I apply one of my old bras (with the underwires removed). I wear the bra 24/7. This is taking some time getting used to. No longer taking Tylenol 3 but take extra strength quick release Tylenol capsules when I am uncomfortable. Pre-op I slept on my side so each day it is getting easier to sleep on my back. To help with this I tried to sleep on my back for about a week prior to the surgery. I am experiencing some numbness in both breasts that seems to increase when I lay down. I have spent most of my time on our loveseat with the armchair directly across from me for my legs. For the next few days I will sleep propped up on the loveseat to see if it helps with the numbness. Lots of resting, reading and movies. When I wake up each day I realize WOW I finally did this! - Janice
