Custom fitted bras are not usually needed by women with a typical breast size and profile. However, many women have special bodily needs which necessitate a specially made bra. Very large breasts are the most common reason why women seek individually tailored bras. A well made bra with a customized fit is essential for providing the extra support large breasted women so desperately need. Other common reasons for specially made bras include severe breast asymmetry or a congenital/developmental condition, such as fully developed polymastia or unilateral hypoplasia.

It is always worth the cost of consultation, fitting and manufacturing a tailored bra, since no other undergarment bought off the rack can provide such a perfect fit and feel.

Custom Bra Advice

Bra makers should be seen in person and generally do their best work when actually measuring a client directly. Beware of mail order or internet order bras which require you to measure your own breasts. These companies might provide good service manufacturing the bra at a reduced cost, but simply cannot offer the truly custom fit of a real life bra maker measuring you in person. Custom fit bras will be a considerable investment, but they should last for many years with proper care.
