Double Lat Dorsi Breast Reconstruction
First Name: Iris City: Tyne and Wear Country: United Kingdom Age: 63 It was a mammogram which found my bi-lateral breast cancer when I was 62. I was a lady who had been very proud of the breasts that nature gave to me. However, once diagnosed they were no longer my friends and they had to go. My surgeon and breast care nurse were wonderful to me, and it only seemed right to go forward with bi-lateral reconstruction. This was done in May this year (2010) and now in September I am swimming and doing aqua fit activities. Sleeping on my side is now very comfortable. I am now waiting for my expander implants to be done, however I only want one or two cup sizes bigger. I drove my car after 6 weeks. For the first 3 or 4 days after surgery I did feel rough, only to be expected after 7 hrs and 40 minutes on the table, but once I saw my new breasts I cried with happiness. And so pert too! Wow at 64, and looking like Betty Boop! Friends and family are amazed at my recovery, but you just want to recover quickly to get out there and buy new bras and matching underwear. I had just lost my husband to cancer 15 months earlier. I felt so sorry for my son and daughter (now in their late 30's) having to wonder if they were now going to lose their mother also.
