Truly Beautiful

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a condition which is characterized by the abnormal growth of breasts or breast-like tissues in males. The condition can result from many possible causes and is not considered a physical health problem. However, the psycho-emotional effects of the condition can be devastating to men of any age. Luckily, there are many different treatment options for this cruel physical abnormality.

What causes Gynecomastia?

Breast development in males can occur at any age, although many cases occur during puberty or in old age. Causes for the condition vary considerably and might include any of the following:

* Idiopathic reason (unknown origin)

* Temporary hormone imbalance during pubescent development

* Hormone imbalance or deficiency as a permanent condition

* Side effect of a particular drug

* Testicular problem including tumor or hypogonadism

* Complication of malnutrition or starvation

* Obesity

* Drastic weight loss

* Pituitary Failure

* Spinal Cord Injury

* Cirrhosis

* Complication of the mumps (paramyxovirus)

* Old age and loss of skin elasticity

* Abnormal pectoral development

* Renal insufficiency

Treatment of Gynecomastia

There are many treatment options which vary depending on the cause of the condition. Accurate diagnosis of the causative problem is crucial to enact appropriate treatment and prevent re-occurrence of breast tissue growth. Developmental versions of the condition in pubescent boys will usually resolve by themselves without any treatment whatsoever. There are many non-surgical options, including simple lifestyle changes, which can cure the condition. Finally, there are very effective surgical modalities which can create a more masculine chest profile, eliminating all traces of this embarrassing disorder.

Recommendation on Gynecomastia

This abnormal condition can make every day a living hell for many men and boys. The male identity and body image is not compatible with demonstrating breast growth, a female gender characteristic. Men suffering from this condition experience a full range of psychological and emotional effects which can destroy their self confidence, lead to depression and anxiety and might even cause physical health concerns. If you are among the millions of men who must live with this problem, there is help for you. Treatment is usually simple and very successful. Talk to your doctor about the best treatment option for your particular form of the male breast growth.
