Many Breast Augmentation Problems

Many Breast Augmentation Problems

In 2005 my first set of implants was wonderful. My self esteem went through the roof and I lost a bunch of weight. So then the implants looked totally different and we decided to go a little larger to fill in the sagging parts that once used to be fatty breast tissue. So the second surgery in 2006 was a nightmare. My left breast was a DD and my right breast was small D. Over the course of the next 6 months the doctor tried draining fluid from my left breast....so it was like wearing a pad on your breast as fluid was always oozing out. One of my glands under my arm also became infected and was oozing fluid. No one, not the doctor or the surgical facility, admitted that I had contracted MRSA in this breast.

So what lingered on for 6 months when it should have been removed and cleaned out within the first few weeks. Finally my skin was so thin at the site of drainage that I called my Dr. one night to say that I see something shiny. We scheduled an emergency surgery the next day as the implant was now trying to come out. The implant was removed and I had to go without one for 3-4 months to allow the site to heal.

After 6 months of an infection most of my natural breast tissue could not be saved. I was left with a training size cup size. We put in a new implant after everything healed in. It was nice until a few months into recovery I noticed the breast started shrinking "capsular contracture". Mine was not a severe case. I totally lost all confidence in my doctor as she blamed the surgical facility for not reporting the MRSA and they blamed her. I changed to another Dr. He performed a fat transfer to the areas that looked concaved and tried to release the capsule that had formed around my breast and made it hard.

It too started shrinking after a few months but not nearly as bad as the first time. So 4-5 years have passed. My husband wanted me to sue the first doctor and surgical facility and I did not pursue it. I lost 1 whole year of work. 6 months I was bed ridden. Pale as a ghost and just looked sick from the MRSA infection. I lost the person I used to be and literally felt like a weird insect with stuff oozing out of me.

Today I finally have my mojo back. If someone would ask if I would do the surgery again.....I would say no.....I should have had a breast lift and kept what God gave me. I think the stats back in 2006 were 1 in 10M or 1 in 30M have the chance of developing MRSA, also known as the staff infection. The day after surgery I felt like influenza hit me 5 times over and could not get out of bed then from there the infected breast swelled up to double in size. So if you have this happen to you....please make your doctor remove the implant immediately so you do not loose your natural breast tissue. If the doctor wants to try different drugs to treat the infection....go to another doctor and demand to have the implant removed. Also with multiple surgeries, and also getting tooth implants, which used anesthesia, my hair started thinning out along my forehead. It was either multiple uses of anesthesia or my body pushed me into a hormone shift (this same thing can happen to pregnant women) and my dermatologist put me on biotin and my hair started growing back.

Another really wild thing is with the last operation, my hairline in the back near my neck started oozing tons of oil. My face was oily again just like a teenager. The oil production around my neck hair line eventually stopped but I still have the oily skin on my face. So there was a total hormone shift. Please be careful in choosing a Dr. Ask how many capsular contractures he/she has had and MRSA infections. GOOD LUCK and remember I was just 1 in 10K. I was just a number. Chances are you will be just fine with your surgery. This is the first time I have shared this story!!!!!! - Sherry
