Truly Beautiful

Uneven Breasts

Uneven breasts can be the result of a developmental condition or a problem from some type of cosmetic breast surgery. Almost every woman has breasts which are 2 different sizes and might also have slightly different shapes or profiles. It is rare to have perfectly identical breasts, in nature or through surgery. Most size and shape variations are minor and not immediately noticeable, while other asymmetries are rather obvious and can cause a woman severe emotional anguish.

Uneven Breasts

Naturally Uneven Breasts

Many girls develop in an asymmetrical fashion, with one breast growing larger than the other. Sometimes, one breast does not develop at all, causing a very imbalanced appearance which can cause feelings of self consciousness and problems fitting into clothing correctly. While these natural variations in shape and size sometimes correct themselves, surgery is sometimes the only way to regain a “matched pair” appearance. Other common developmental breast abnormalities can account for comparative differences in shape or placement of the developing breasts.

Uneven Breasts from Cosmetic Surgery

Breast surgery can definitely both cause and cure asymmetrical breasts:

* Breast Augmentation can be an effective cure for unevenly shaped or sized breasts. Augmentation procedures can also be the cause of uneven shape or profile if the surgery is poorly performed or if the patient develops certain post-operative complications.

* Breast Lift Surgery can even out large ptotic breasts. Sometimes if the surgery is not accurate or somehow incorrectly performed, the patient might actually end up with an uneven final result.

* Breast Reduction can also even out asymmetrical large breasts. However, reductions must be done carefully or the final aesthetic can turn out uneven and mismatched.

Psychological Factors of Uneven Breasts

Women in general, but especially young developing girls, can be extremely self conscious about breast asymmetry. Breasts that are not even make finding proper fitting clothes very difficult. This is doubly true for tight form-fitting items such as bras and swim suits. Most women have a hard enough time finding a proper fitting bra, but trying to locate one designed to fit 2 completely different breast sizes is impossible! Unevenness in the bosom can cause feelings of insecurity and poor self image. Fixing a breast irregularity will solve the obvious physical complaint, but is much more important to cure the emotional issues which often accompany the asymmetry.

The Bottom Line on Uneven Breasts

If you have a sizeable discrepancy in the size or shape of your breasts, you must be honest with yourself about how the issue makes you feel. If you can accept the irregularity as an inherent and beautiful part of you, then leave nature's perfection alone. However, if the unevenness bothers you, then you might consider learning more about a surgical procedure which can correct the differences and make you better balanced.

If you have already had a breast surgery and now have asymmetrical breasts, you also must consider the above question of how you truly feel about the change. If you are still not happy with your breasts, an additional operation might be warranted to give you the breasts you have already worked so hard to achieve. Consult with your cosmetic surgeon to find out the best option to correct the asymmetries caused by your first surgery and make sure that the mistake will not be repeated in the subsequent procedure.
