Truly Beautiful

Donut Mastopexy

The donut mastopexy is a very common modified breast lift procedure used to correct mild to moderate breast ptosis. This procedure is also known as Benelli mastopexy or concentric mastopexy. Breast lift surgery offers a wide spectrum of possible results ranging from incredible to disappointing. It is crucial to learn the facts about all your surgical options before choosing a procedure to raise and firm your breasts.

Donut Mastopexy

What is a Donut Mastopexy?

A donut lift is designed to remove excess skin from the breast, tightening the breast and raising nipple placement. The technique removes a donut shaped piece of skin from around the areola, allowing the breast to be drawn tighter and firmer. Ptosis occurs when skin loses its natural elasticity and this surgical procedure helps to eliminate some of that stretched out tissue creating a more youthful breast shape. Recovering from a Benelli mastopexy is relatively fast, compared to a full version of a breast lift which uses several larger incisions.

Choosing Donut Mastopexy

This procedure works best for women with small to medium breasts, demonstrating mild to moderate breast or nipple sagging. The surgical technique will leave a scar around the nipple and it is often employed in conjunction with a periareolar breast augmentation to achieve the best results. If you decide on this combined operation, it might be a wise choice to have your new implants placed submuscular or in the subpectoral position to maximize support and minimize the chances for a fast recurrence of ptosis. Generally, the results of any donut lift are temporary with the natural age and gravity related processes continuing to act upon the breasts. Smaller breasted women might have excellent results for many years if they do not put their breasts under any further child birth or breastfeeding related stress, while larger breasted women might see a recurrence of ptosis much faster.

Recommendation on Donut Breast Lift

As a stand alone procedure, this surgical technique can truly give great lift and firmness to smaller breasts with minor sagging tendencies. In combination with a periareolar augmentation, the donut lift can help to firm existing breast tissue and give a more youthful appearance to the nipple placement. Women with significant ptosis or larger breasts should definitely consider an alternative procedure which will do more to restore the shape and support their breasts require. You do not want to endure an operation which will have a very temporary effect, when a better procedure will give longer term and more noticeable results. Consult with a qualified cosmetic surgeon to determine if a donut lift might be a valuable part of achieving your breast related body image goals.
