Transumbilical Breast Augmentation

Transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) is an innovative cosmetic breast surgery procedure invented by Dr. Gerald W. Johnson. This augmentation procedure uses a tiny concealed incision placed inside the natural folds of the belly button to place the breast implants into the body. This surgical approach has a variety of advantages, as well as a few potential disadvantages, when compared to other breast enlargement procedures.

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation Procedure

The basic procedure for this type of breast augmentation starts with a small incision in the upper fold of the navel. The surgeon will use blunt dissection to create a tunnel to each breast through the abdominal tissue. The surgeon will also manually create pockets for the breast implants to reside inside the body. The surgeon will often utilize a tool known as an endoscope to increase their vision inside the chest cavity. This tool is a flexible lighted camera which will give a good visualization of areas the surgeon can not actually see with the naked eye. The surgeon will then insert the unfilled, rolled up implants into the body and position them in the anatomical pockets. The implants will be filled and the incision closed to finish the procedure.

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation Facts

This type of implantation is the newest form of breast augmentation and is in high demand. Not all surgeons perform TUBA and finding a specialist is worth the time and effort, since the procedure requires extensive experience to attain excellent results. There is a scar from this operation, but it is well hidden inside the belly button and will not be visible under any circumstances. TUBA can currently only be performed using saline implants, since they can be rolled up and inserted empty into the small entry incision. TUBA is a state of the art operation which has opened up the world of cosmetic breast surgery to women who were previously too frightened of potential scarring to their breasts.

TUBA Recommendation

The TUBA procedure is a modern miracle of art and science working together. An experienced TUBA surgeon will always be in great demand for their skills. Transumbilical augmentation is not right for every woman, but does offer an excellent alternative to more traditional surgical methods for most women. TUBA provides breast enlargement which does not leave the usual telltale signs and scars, even under close examination. To learn more about TUBA and determine is it is correct for your breast implant needs, talk to a qualified cosmetic surgeon today.
